Vincent Hie is best known for his striking dragon sketches and fully detailed painted images of dragons. 2010 proved a banner year for Vince's unique take on dragon artwork with two images taking the form of sketches, and two more of the fully rendered variety.
The first dragon sketch is Red Skull Dragon, a turn on Vincent Hie's wildly popular blue dragon version from last year, Skull Dragon. But this is more than a mere whimsical chameleon-change of color. We actually get a bigger picture of the beast and its lair. A fierce dragon still ponders the skull of one of its hapless victims, but the red cast to the artwork, and the new background skulls and heraldry sketch make this contemplative dragon a Hamlet straight from Hell. Alas, poor Yorick indeed!
|
While the original blue dragon version remains a classic in its own right, we can't help but appreciate the intensity of Red Skull Dragon. It is a hipper dragon from hell!

Dragon Reaper - Ed Beard, who has penned several of The Mountain's iconic fantasy designs, takes a darker path with this Gothic fantasy art for SkulBone where Death rides a dragon.
Fireball - Certain to become an instant classic, this artwork of a fiery red dragon climbing out of a lava pit by Vincent Hie is available on two shirt styles.
Peace Dragon - While we have not previously associated dragons with peace, this unusual piece of fantasy art does fit in nicely with The Mountain's new Peace motif.
Samurai - Dragons have deep roots in many ancient traditions. Samurai honors the Japanese mythology.
War Dragon - Perhaps our most shocking new dragon artwork, contrasting the classic dragon art by Romas Kukalis with a field of World War I soldiers in gas masks. Positively chilling.
